WebSphere Portal 6 released in Q3 2006
I attended a short presentation about WebSphere Portal 6 the other day. I am actually having a hard time finding good information on the Internet about it.
Did you know that WebSphere Portal 6 includes WebSphere Portlet Factory (former Bowstreet Portlet Factory)? The current release date is the 28th of july.

The man behind Lotus Notes advances in Microsoft!
Near the end of 1984, Ray Ozzie founded Iris Associates Inc., under contract and funded by Lotus, to develop the first release of Lotus Notes. The first release of Notes (1.0) shipped in 1989. Read the long story about the history of Notes and Domino.
On March 10, 2005, Microsoft acquired Groove Networks. Groove's founder was Ray Ozzie and he became chief technology officer of Microsoft.
On June 15, 2006, Ozzie assumed the title of Microsoft chief software architect previously held by Chairman Bill Gates, and is working side by side with Gates on all technical architecture and product oversight responsibilities in anticipation of Gates’ departure from a day-to-day role in Microsoft in July 2008.

What search engine spiders see
A tool on dlperry.com scans a site and shows the results, as well as provide page data such as word density, meta keywords, links, etc. Interesting to look at if you wonder what search engine spiders actually see when they visit a website according to dlperry.com

Google Browser Sync
"Google Browser Sync for Firefox is an extension that continuously synchronizes your browser settings – including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers. It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions. For more info, please visit our FAQ.
Please note: Google Browser Sync must update your browser settings whenever you start Firefox. This will increase the start-up time of Firefox (the time between clicking on the Firefox icon and loading your start page) – please bear with us as we work to decrease this delay."
A new firefox extension called Google Browser Sync is available for download. Using a google account it is now possible to share browser settings like form data, history, cookies, bookmarks etc. among several different computers.
You have to download the extension on every computer you wish to share the firefox browser settings with. It's a really good idea but everytime firefox is started a synchronization has to be done which takes some time though.
I like the restore feature. When firefox has started you can choose to restore the tabs you had opened when you last used firefox, just like what the Lotus Notes 7 client offers.

Internet traffic decreased due to TPB take down
When the now famous TPB was taken down by the swedish police or whoever was responsible on may 31, it very clearly showed that the Internet traffic to a great deal consists of file sharing. It actually decreased by 20% when TPB was down if I have got the numbers right.
Take a look at this site for aggregated traffic graphs of swedish nodes.
Read more about the TPB-case at Beta Alfa 2.0 (in swedish) which has covered and discussed a lot about it.
